i know what a host club is, how do we request a host?
If you already know which host/hostess you'd like your character to speak to and you aren't planning any sort of party, please feel free to hit up the host/hostess's IC inbox using the link in their description! For anything larger in scale than a one-on-one conversation, planning using Plurk, Discord, PMs, or the character's top level on the monthly planning memes is highly suggested.
ok but wtf is a host club
It's a place to flirt in a safe, comfortable environment! And the flirting is guaranteed on account of the lovely hosts and hostesses (if we get any hostesses), they are here to make sure you have a lovely time! One part night club, one part speakeasy, one part social parlor, it's quiet enough to have an actual conversation, but loud enough to be considered a constant party.

yes, but not up front!! please take your fricking to the back rooms of the establishment, where Midnight has prepared several private rooms where you can boink to your heart's content. Hosts and hostesses are not allowed to exchange sex for money, these rooms are purely recreational. (Midnight isn't running a brothel here, but he realizes that fighting against the current is a little pointless.)

drop by for a conversation with someone pretty who'll listen to your problems and treat you like royalty! or: this is the therapy end of going to a strip club with fewer naked people.
also, you can 100% go to the club just to get something to drink! if you come alone you may get a host or hostess checking in on you, but without drink quotas, the club is also effectively just a regular bar! sit, drink, socialize, people-watch, flirt with the bartender, be merry!

Please get in contact with me via the gamewide OOC CR-building meme! If you cannot find my most current top-level on the meme, please send me a message here, but Midnight will want to meet with all potential hosts/hostesses so he can explain the rules, the ropes, and the expectations! Since no one's making money here, there won't be a competitive aspect or an emphasis on selling drinks, it's all about the art of conversation and entertainment.
... meaning if you have a character who has, say, a hard time talking to other people, or wants to learn a few party tricks or even a performing art (dancing, singing, musicianship), this is a place for that! midnight will advertise the party rooms as practice rooms for music during the day, and there's a stage in the case a band or a performer wants to set up a small concert. He will be encouraging all of his hosts/hostesses to pursue one art and/or join him for fitness training! a good host is well rounded after all :>
there are party rooms
Hosts/Hostesses have the option of claiming and customizing a 300x400 sq foot room located in the back halls of the club! (Claiming a party room is NOT a requirement to become a host, it's just a fun bonus thing!)
The room itself is bare concrete, and there are only ceiling height windows due to the club's location underground, but everything else is otherwise completely free to customize as long as none of the changes present a danger to the rest of the club. Midnight and Kaveh will do their best to accomodate reasonable renovations, but please keep in mind that they will be doing most of the work and will be limited by what they can do between them and what Kaveh is realistically capable of engineering. (If you're at all in doubt, imagine Kaveh standing behind your character with a knife while they are asking about what is possible. The answer your character comes up is what is possible.)
That being said, we have an indoor greenhouse in one room and a small barista counter and cafe in another, so options like plumbing and lighting are available. If you are at all in doubt, please ask!
i want my character involved but they do not flirt
that's fine! For those a little less interested in the social aspects of hosting, there is also a need for bartenders, bouncers, live performers (there's a stage!), and maintenance/janitorial staff! Midnight would also be looking for a marketer and someone to help with party planning, so anyone who is a bit more advertising/tech savvy than he is who could help him run some social media accounts and take some pictures would be a great help to him personally.
so will there be events or something
Hell yes! The point of this host club is to let characters get a chance to get to know each other in an informal way, using the shenanigans that come with working at a night-time establishment to kick off threads and provide prompts, but I will also post host club catch-alls for employees and guests alike to mingle (eventually, i'll link it here when i get around to it). Midnight will also just throw parties for the hell of it, and those will have dedicated party posts!
